Poul Henningsen

1894 — 1967

Author, critic, and architect Poul Henningsen was a leading cultural figure in Denmark between the two World Wars.  Trained as an architect, and known as a socially progressive writer in Denmark (he is simply called PH there) he designed many objects, notably light fixtures that aimed for uniform illumination.  Other notable objects include pianos – one of which resides in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s collection of notable designs.
