Collection: Carl Malmsten

1888 - 1972

A Swedish designer and architect, Carl Malmsten is known for his dedication to traditional Swedish craftsmanship and his opposition to functionalism.  He believed that the modern focus on utilitarian principles was debasing the very concept of home: an intimate place for gathering and repose". In the 1920s he was invited to furnish a room for the crown prince, Gustaf VI Adolf, and his wife Louise in Ulriksdal Palace.
